As there is a good common saying “The knowledge of foreign languages opens the doors to the world and creates opportunities worldwide”, in Uzbekistan, the need of learning as well as teaching English language is drastically increasing.       

With the purpose of face to face communication with local Pre-SETT and ESP teachers at higher educational institutions, an exemplary staff, monitoring English language development in Uzbekistan – the British Council representatives, namely – the director of  British Council in UzbekistanRachel Ireland, deputy director JamilaGulyamova and marketing coordinator UmidaNurjanovaorganized a seminar meeting at Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh.

Feeling welcome and having a good opportunity to share viewpoints on particular questions, the attendees of the meeting – English language teachers from KarakalpakStateUniversity and Nukus State Pedagogical Institute, as well as master degree students  actively participated in the seminar.

Specifically, relevant issues in teaching and learning English, such as implementation of Pre-service Teacher Training program in curriculum for more than 10 years, how it succeeded to work and what were some possible drawbacks of a program, what kind of possible changes could be done and some future challenges and innovative ideas for English language teaching were diversely discussed and solutions to some present day problems along with suggestions were provided.
