PRESIDENT’S RESOLUTION IS IN ACTION

On May 12, 2020 Rector of Berdakh Karakalpak State University Professor Akhmed Reymov, Dean of the Faculty of Biology Yakub Ametov and professors – teachers of the Department of Agroecology and Introduction of Medicinal Herbs visited the Aral Sea International Innovation Center under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The main purpose is to ensure the implementation of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated to April 10, 2020 No PR-4670 “On measures to protect, cultivate, process and rational use of available resources of wild medicinal herbs”.

Since 2019 Karakalpak State University has signed a memorandum with the Aral Sea International Innovation Center under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and on the basis of this memorandum research work on medicinal plants is being carried out.

In particular, since May 2019, the students of 5411100-Medicinal Herbs, Cultivation and Processing Technology of the educational direction with their supervisors have been conducting field practice at the center. They sowed the seeds of local and introduced medicinal plants (anise, amaranth, fennel, catarantus, sharp-leaved sage, medicinal rose, medicinal chamomile, lemon grass, Jerusalem artichoke, thistle, etc.) and carried out phenological observations. Based on the information received, 1 textbook, 3 articles in foreign and local journals, as well as 19 theses at international and national conferences were published.

During the visit, an agreement was reached with the Aral Sea International Innovation Center under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to conductthis year joint research work on creating a collection of local and introduced medicinal herbs by young scientists, probationers-researchers, masters and students of Karakalpak State University.
