Department History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan

The department “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan” was organized in 1989. In 1989-1999 The department was headed by professors and associate professors K.Sarybaev, A.Utemisov, H.Palvanazov, K.Tangirbergenova, M.Seytimbetov, In 2011-2016. the department was headed by J. Hakimniyazov. Since 2016, the department is headed by Associate Professor S. Saymanov. Currently at the department are Professor B. Koschanov, candidates of historical sciences, associate professors M.Seytimbetov, J.Hakimniyazov, K.Tangirbergenova, A.Kudiyarov, M.Seytnazarov, S.Saimanov, assistants-teachers D.Kosymbetova, S.Allamuratova, H.Utegenov, Z.Turinezov, A.Matzhanov, Z.Aitmuratova, M.Ramatullaev, D.Jumaniyazov teach lectures and seminars. In 1991-2010 Ph.D. theses were defended: M.Seytimbetov Zh.Hakimniyazov, A.Kudiyarov, S.Saymanov, S.Sulaimanov.
Major contributions to the history of the department were: academician Sabir Kamalov, candidate of historical sciences, professor Sherip Babashev, professor Ktaybek Sarybaev, candidates of historical sciences Zhumatai Arzykhanov, Gayratdin Naimov, Aynazar Utemisov, Kurbanbai Kalimbetov, Koshmurat Paluaniyazov.

The department prepares bachelors in the specialty “History” (states and regions) and masters in the specialty “History of Uzbekistan”. The members of the department take an active part in the development of an initiative-oriented scientific theme: “The socio-economic and socio-political development of Karakalpakstan (the second half of the 19th – early 20th century)”.

The department “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan” maintains scientific relations with the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the history department of the National University of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand Institute of Archeology, the Research Institute of Humanities of the Karakalpak Department of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Saimanov “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan” (Nukus, 2003) for students of a special correspondence faculty; A.Kudiyarov “Trade relations and the history of entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan” (Nukus 2010); “On the history of Chimbay” (Nukus, 2013); “On the history of libraries in Karakalpakstan” (Nukus 2013); M. Seytimbetov, S. Sulaimanov “The History and Present of the Amudarya and Aral Waterways” (Nukus 2015); B. Koshchanov “Historiography of Karakalpakstan. The newest period ”(Nukus 2016). The members of the department have published curriculums on the subject “History of Karakalpakstan” for historians of bachelors and students of non-historical areas.

 

Saymanov Sultanbay Syrgabaevich, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, was born on September 30, 1971 in the city of Nukus. In 1993 he graduated from Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 2001 he defended his thesis on the topic “From the history of the city of Kungrad (XVIII-first half of the XIX century)”. Author of more than 40 scientific publications. From 2004 to 2016, he worked as the head of the monitoring and internal control department at KSU. Since November 2016 he has been working as a head of the department “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”.

 

 

Koshanov Bahit Abdikerimovich, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, was born on June 2, 1958 in the Karauzyak district. In 1980 he graduated from Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 1988 he defended his thesis on the topic “Turkestan in 1918-1920”, in 1995 his doctoral thesis on the topic “Turkestan in 1917-1922”. He is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including 15 monographs, 3 textbooks, 2 textbooks. Under his leadership 11 candidates of historical sciences were prepared. Since 2015 he has been working as a professor in the department of  “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”.

 

 

Seytnazarov Muratbay Sernazarovich, candidate of historical sciences, was born on March 15, 1953 in the Kegeyli district. In 1978 he graduated from the faculty of physical education, in 1991 the history department of Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 1999 he defended his thesis on the topic “History of the national liberation movement in Karakalpakstan”. Published about 30 scientific publications. Since 2014 he has been an associate professor at the Department of History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan.

 

 

Tangirbergenova Qalligul, candidate of Historical Sciences, associate Professor, was  born on May 12, 1959 in the Takhtakupir district. In 1981 he graduated from Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 1992 she defended her thesis on the topic “The economy of Karakalpakstan during the Second World War (1941-1945)”. Author of more than 80 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks. Since 2014 she has been an associate professor of the department “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”

 

 

 

Khakimniyazov Jolmurza Khojabekovich, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, was born on September 1, 1963 in the Chimbay district. In 1990 he graduated from Karakalpak State University, on specialty historian. In 1999 he defended his thesis on the topic “Public and religious buildings of medieval Khorezm”. He published about 70 scientific works including 2 monographs, 5 textbooks. Since 2016 he has been Associate Professor of the Department of “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”.

 

Seytimbetov Minsizbay Kazakbaevich, candidate of Historical Sciences, associate professor, was  born on September 29, 1960 in Muynak district. In 1983 he graduated from Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 1995 he defended his thesis on the topic “Railway construction in Karakalpakstan (1947-1975).” Author of more than 50 scientific papers, including 2 monographs and several teaching aids. Since 2015 he has been an associate professor of the department “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”.

 

Qudiyarov Alisher Rametullaevich, candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, was born on January 29, 1966 in the Chimbay district. In 1990 he graduated from Karakalpak State University on specialty historian. In 1999 he defended his thesis on the topic “The history of the city of Chimbay (XIX-early XX century)”. Published more than 60 scientific works, including 1 monograph, 3 textbooks. Since 2012 he has been an Associate Professor of the Department of “History of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan”
