Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, was established in 2015. Led by Associate Professor S. Osmanov, the Department of Chemistry and Biology first conducted its activities at the Karakalpak State Pedagogical Institute in 1944-1948. In 1949-1950, this department was renamed as the department of “Chemistry and Geography”, the head of which was G. А. Voroshilova. In 1950-1958, the department of “Chemistry” was headed by Professor PZ Fisher. Later, the department of “Chemistry” was headed: in 1958 – 1962 – F.A. Kondrari, in 1962-1964 – Z. Ametova, in 1964 – 1968 – A. Boleshov, in 1968 – 1971 – I. Zhiemuratov and in 1971 – 1976 – J. Allamuratov.

Since the opening of Karakalpak State University in 1976, the Department of Chemistry was headed by K. Uteniyazov. In 1982, this department was divided into two, one of which was named as “Organic Chemistry”.

From 1987 to 1991, the Department of Organic Chemistry was headed by Associate Professor Z.Kurbanov. 1991-2010, the department conducted its activities under the guidance of Professor K. Uteniyazov.

Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor K. Uteniyazov won a foreign grant on the topic “Acids covalently bound in catalysis” with the sum of 80 ecu under the program INTAS of the European Society 1997-2000.

In 2000-2004, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor K. Uteniyazov acted as the main performer of foreign grants of international organizations of JICA, the countries of Japan and NATO.

In 1997-1999, the department of “Organic Chemistry” carried out scientific work on the theme “Investigation of the constituent parts of medicinal plants by chemical means, separation, determination of chemical structure and biological asset” (14.4.4 code, supervisor doctor of chemical sciences, professor K. Uteniazov).

In 1999, on November 25-26, a Republican scientific-practical conference entitled “Chemical and technological problems of using natural resources of the Aral Sea region” was held.

In 2004, on April 22-23, the Republican scientific-practical conference called “Modern tasks of chemical education, science and technology in Karakalpakstan” was held.

In 2008, on September 5-6, the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference called “Physiologically active compounds based on plant resources and technology of inorganic substances” was held.

In 2011, on March 16-17, a conference was held under the title “Actual problems of the development of chemical science, technology and education in the Republic of Karakalpakstan” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor K. Uteniazov.

In 2011 and 2013, Ph.D., Associate Professor K.K. Uteniazov and assistant B.M.Bekpolatova participated in courses conducted by the Ukrainian National University OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) and received certificates.

In 2017, Ph.D., Associate Professor K.K. Uteniazow was on an internship on the establishment and use of laboratory equipment in Germany.

In 2018, under the guidance of a lecturer of the department, Ph.D., associate professor MK Allaniyazova, research works (100 million soums) on the topic PZ-2017092765 are conducted.

Since the beginning of September 2018, associate professor A.G. Eshimbetov studies post-doctoral studies in India, winning a grant CSIR-TWAS.

At this time, the head of the department is Ph.D., associate professor KK Uteniyazov.
