This year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the “Law on the State Language” by the Republic of Karakalpakstan. On December 1, 1989, at the session of the Jokargi Kenges of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the status of the state language was given to the Karakalpak language. Article 1 of the Law on the State Language of the Republic of Karakalpakstan states: “Karakalpak is the state language of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The Republic of Karakalpakstan has the right to resolve all issues relating to its language on its territory”.
Thanks to this historical document, the Karakalpak language has a solid legal basis and high status.
Currently, the Karakalpak language is widely practiced in all spheres of our life – state and public administration, interstate relations, science, education, culture and art.
The students of Law Faculty of Karakalpak State University using the media conduct work to explain the meaning and content of this law.
