Department Applied Mathematics

With the opening of the Karakalpak State University, it has become a necessity to teach modern subjects in the fields of science that meet the curriculum requirements. This required organizing a large number of new chairs. Depending on these circumstances, in 1976, the New computational mathematics Department was formed in the faculty of mathematics. Thus, in 2016, 40 years have passed since the opening of the university and this year was the 40th anniversary of the establishment of this department.

In the 1976-1977 academic year, the department had only 6 professors-teachers: Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, head of the department, associate professor (after the professor) A.O. Otarov, Candidate of Economic Sciences A.Matekeev (after Doctor of Economic Sciences), N.Primbetov, S.Pirnazarov (Candidates of Physics and Mathematics, Assistant Professors), K. Beknazarova (teacher).

The heads of the department were in 1976-1987 and 1991-2000 A.O. Otarov, associate professor S.Pirnazarov in 1987-1991, associate professor N.Uteuliyev in 2001-2005, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences A.Tureniyazova in 2005-2007, associate professor J.Allanazarov in 2007-2009, in 2009-2014 years Candidate of Technical Sciences Sh. Eshmuratov, and since 2015 Associate Professor M. Berdimuratov has headed the department.

By the decision of the university’s academic council in 1998, the department “Computational Mathematics” was transformed under the name “Applied Mathematics and Computer Science”, and since 2015 it has been transferred into “Applied Mathematics”.

From the moment the department was founded, special attention was paid to the replenishment of its structure by professional teachers with a scientific degree. Especially, communication was established with the departments of “Computational Mathematics”, “Economic Cybernetics” and “Mathematical Physics” of Kiev University, and many young teachers who are able to complete research projects were first sent to a two-year internship, then they studied at the postgraduate school and defended their PhD thesis. . In the years of independence, special attention was paid to the training staffs with scientific degrees. In the consequences of this, the teachers of the department N. Uteuliyev, A. Yembergenov, Sh. Burkhanov, T. Sadykov, D. Mendaliev, Z. Allanazarov, T. Zhamuratov, N. Primbetov, S. Pyrnazarov, A. Khozhametov, D. Utebayev, M. Berdimuratov, R. Mustafayeva, Sh. Eshmuratov, B. Aitmuratov, A. Bekiev and others became Ph.D. Among them, N. Uteўliev  entered the Kiev University doctorate in 1992 and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in 1995 and was the first among mathematicians in Karakalpakstan to become a doctor of science, teachers D. Utebayev and A. Khozhametov are writing his doctoral work, preparing for her defense. Also, teachers A.Pirimbetov and G.Dzhaykov studied post graduate course at the Novosibirsk State Technical University, R.Shixiev, R.Baltabaeva  studied post graduate course at the National university of Uzbekistan and they are preparing for protection their scientific works.

Currently, the department is one of the most advanced departments of the university. There are 28 professor-teachers in the department. In particular, 1 professor, 8 candidates of science and associate professors, 19 assistant professors and 5 professor-teachers were involved abroad.

During 2000s, the department has magistracy on the specialty of applied mathematics and information technology. Nowadays the department trains 23 bachelor’s degrees, 10 undergraduate and 33 subjects. The total area of this department is 25,500 people

Taking into account new pedagogical technologies, every year the professors of the department revise and update the texts of lectures, materials of practical and laboratory works. From all subjects of the department, electronic versions of the lecture texts were created and transferred to the reference and resource center of the university. Lessons are taught on the basis of modern educational technology, using electronic boards and presentations.

Professors and teachers do research work with gifted students. These students annually participate in international and republican competitions and achieve good results. In particular, A.Abdiev, S.Karabekov, R. Ongarbayev, J.Mukhiyatdinov, M.Narbaev and magistrand  R.Esimbetov took part in the “Programming-2015” international Olympiad and took the top places.

Professors and teachers of the department actively participate in international and national scientific-theoretical conferences. For example, at the republican scientific-theoretical conference entitled “Modern tasks of applying information and communication technologies in the integration of science,  and industry” held in April 21, 2015 in the Nukus branch of the Tashkent University of Information Technology, many teachers of the department took part with scientific reports, A.O. Otarov, associate professors M. Berdimuratov and Sh. Eshmuratov headed one section of this conference.

Taking into account the importance of the educational literature written in the mother tongue in upbringing highly-qualified specialists, experienced teachers of the department have created a wide range of textbooks, manuals and scientific-methodical literature.

The book “Numerical methods” (part 1) (2002), by A.O. Otarov with J. P.Allanazarov written for the students of the university, pedagogical and technical institutes, written by A.O. Otarov and assistant professor J.P. Allanazarov. Written  by J.P. Allanazarov and A.O Otarov, published in 2006  the textbook on “Theory of educational information”, A.O. Otarov and J.Allanazarov, for students of higher educational institutions The book “Numerical methods” (Part 2). The book “Numerical methods” won the competition “The author of the best textbook and educational literature” ,  in 2009 organized by The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan , Ministry of Public Education and Talent Foundation. The authors were given special diplomas and valuable prizes.

During the years of independence, improving the quality of education and upbringing the students in line with modern requirements are controlled well.

The wide-ranging coverage of the President’s speeches, decrees and decisions are permanently explained on the basis of the planned works. A lot of work is being done to raise students with love for motherland.

In order to increase the quality of the education and scientific work of the department, as well as to systematically educate the pediatric staff of the results of scientific research, there are links with higher educational institutions and scientific research institutes of our country and abroad. Agreements have been made with the National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, Ukrainian National University, Novosibirsk State Technical University, and  established good academic contacts.
