DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL AND COLLOID CHEMISTRY

The Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry of Karakalpak State University began its activities in 1990 and was headed by Kali Saparniyazov, PhD in chemistry. In 1993-1996 the department was headed by the PhD in chemistry, associate professor Muratbay Ismailov. In 2001, the department was reorganized and it was headed by the PhD in chemistry, associate professor Jumamuratova Mapruza Sharibaevna. In 2008-2011years the head of the department was Rustem Tlegenov, Doctor of Chemistry, and in 2012-2017 Amanbay Pirniyazov, PhD in chemistry. Within 2017-2019, the department is headed by the PhD in chemistry, associate professor Bakhtiyar Nurymbetov. Since 2019 to the present day, the department is headed by Associate Professor Ayshagul Ibraimovna Sharipova. During its history, the department has graduated several dozen bachelors and masters of chemistry. Currently, they work in many institutions and scientific centers of the Uzbekistan Republic.

At the present time, the department has concluded several agreements with research institutes and higher educational establishments in the republic and abroad. Among them are the laboratory of Colloid Chemistry of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbekistan Republic and the Karakalpak Scientific Research Institute of Natural Sciences, the National University of Uzbekistan, “NUKUS POLYMER” LLC. And also there is a cooperation agreement with the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, the Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine

The scientific direction of the department is the study of the properties of natural dispersed systems using water-soluble polymers, the production of building materials and drilling fluids based on bentonites. A number of scientific achievements have been reached in the aforementioned areas, and the research results have been published in national and foreign scientific journals.

In 2017 – 2018, under the leadership of the head of the department B. Nurymbetov, a grant was received for the implementation of applied scientific research on “Development of the composition and technology for obtaining heat-insulating materials based on modified vermiculite».

Now the department employs 6 PhD and 3 assistants.
