Corruption and the fight against it

In recent years, the country has carried out significant institutional and legal reforms in the field of combating corruption. Systemic measures were taken to increase the legal awareness and legal culture of the population, and create an intolerant attitude towards corruption in society.

Corruption is a dangerous crime that leads not only to the violation of human rights, but also poses a threat to security and causes the development of organized crime.

It should be noted that the Presidential Decree “On measures to further improve the anti-corruption system in the Republic of Uzbekistan” of May 27, 2019 was a new step in improving the effectiveness of the anti-corruption system.

This decree approved the State Anti-Corruption Program for 2019-2020 and renewed board of Republican interagency commission on combating anti-corruption.

Based on this decree, in order to improve the fight against corruption, from August 1, 2019, in the country the project “Sphere without corruption” in the capital construction and education system is being implemented as an experiment, and from April 1, 2020 this project will be phased in other spheres.

In order to implement the tasks identified in this program, various explanatory events are held among teachers and students at the Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, as well as, together with law enforcement and relevant bodies, meetings, discussions and competitions are organized to combat and prevent corruption.

A similar event took place on November 16 this year at the Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh on the theme “Corruption and the fight against it.”

The event was conducted by the rector of the university A. Reimov.

Speakers at the seminar were professor of the Academy of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan G.Malikov, Investigator of the Karakalpak Republican Office of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes at the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Moldakhmedov, judge of the Criminal Court of the Republic of Karakalpakstan A.Abdikarimov, docent of KSU S.Utemuratova and others noted the wide-ranging measures being taken in the country under the chairmanship of the President aimed at combating corruption, increasing legal literacy and culture, the formation of an intolerant attitude towards corruption.

At the end of the event, the winners of the essay competition on the theme “Corruption – a threat to the future and society”, held on a university scale, were awarded.
