Scientific seminar on the topic “Birds are our friends” was held at the Faculty of Biology

In connection with the “April 1 International Day of Birds”, on March 31 this year, a scientific seminar on the topic “Birds are our friends” was organized at the Faculty of Biology of Karakalpak State University together with the Karakalpak branch of the Bird Conservation Society of Uzbekistan and the student ornithological club “Otus”. The seminar was attended by professors-teachers, students of the Faculty of Biology, the Party Organization of the Republic of Karakalpakstan of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, researchers and inspectors of protected natural areas of Karakalpakstan “South Ustryurt National Natural Park”, as well as representatives of the media.

Yakub Ametov made a presentation on the topic “Birds are our friends”, his report on the historical origin of the “International Bird Day”, gave a broad idea of the meaning and protection of birds. Then Saida Bazarbayeva, a senior researcher at the scientific department of the South Ustyurt National Natural Park, made a report on rare and endangered bird species common in the national park.

 

Doctoral student of the Department of General Biology and Physiology of Karakalpak State University, the head of the student ornithological club “Otus” Islambek Arepbaev introduced the activities of the student ornithological club “Otus”. A number of students of the Faculty of Biology spoke with interesting information about birds. Of these, Izetulla Tursinbaev is a 4th year student on the topic “Environmental factors affecting birds”, Uldaulet Alimova is a 4th year student on the topic “Birds of the avifauna of Karakalpakstan listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, a 2nd year student Gulbanu Turganbayeva on the topic “Do you know?.

After that, a drawing competition was held among students of the Faculty of Biology on the theme “Birds are our friends.” Together with drawings of birds, students spoke about the threatening dangers and problems of bird protection. The winners of the competition were awarded prizes prepared by the Faculty of Biology. The 2nd part of the event was held on Ashshikul Lake, located near the city of Nukus. Here the students became closely acquainted with the birds of the lakes. The event was very interesting and informative.

This event, held on a Republican scale, is of great importance. The main goal of the event is to increase the knowledge of the population about birds, protect nesting places for birds, draw people’s attention to the problems of preserving wild birds in the world, and pass on all biological diversity to our descendants in the form of wildlife.
